Why Training Doesn't Work

I get most of my clients after they have been either training on their own for a while or if they have been training with another trainer for a while and have stopped seeing results. Yes, I said that right they STOPPED SEEING RESULTS! Wait a minute. If they are exercising, especially with a trainer, why are they not seeing the results? The answer is simple. Around 90% of fitness trainers out there have only a certification as their guide. They lack experience and understanding. What they are taught is to instruct the client first and foremost on their balance. This is why you see most trainers using a lot of balls and platforms with their clients. These are good exercises, but they are missing the most important reason why they were hired in the first place... The client wants RESULTS!

I have never had a client come to me and say, "Jason, I really need help with my balance." No, that sounds silly. I do however hear, "Jason, I really need to lose this fat off of my belly, hips and thighs!" That is why it is so important that you investigate and research a trainer before you spend your hard earned money on one. Even if he/she starts to put you through real workouts, you still need to be careful. Let me explain.

What many trainers do is immediately put you on a three day split. For example, using Monday, Wednesday and Friday as our training days, the trainer will have you do workout "A" on Monday, "B" on Wednesday and "C" on Friday. Next week the same routine is performed, A, B & C. Performing this same old routine will offer some results, but you will eventually plateau or stay the same. The question is WHY?

Your body begins to adapt to the consistent workload that you are putting it through week in and week out. Once this happens, you will no longer be able to achieve results. Most trainers do not understand this concept. Either they are untrained themselves in the ways of fitness, or they are focused on their own agenda...money. The problem is that most trainers charge by the hour. They sell their sessions or workouts to you at the price of $60 to $90 dollars each. The more sessions you buy the better. There is a huge flaw with this type of set up! Never once were your goals and results the focus!

A real trainer would charge you by your goals. I do. A real trainer will offer double your money back if you don't get into the best shape of your life like I do! I can promise this because I understand how your body reacts to training. Instead of an A, B, C, A, B and C training regimen, I offer something completely different each and every time that you train. We may start with A, B, and C the first week, but on week two we progress to D, E and F. The trick is to never repeat the same workout twice. This will keep your body guessing, and always prove powerful results. A good trainer knows this. After all, if you are not achieving your goals then what's the point, right? Never lose sight of what you are after, and always remember these simple phrases; You ARE worth it! You CAN do it! You DO deserve it! Don't let me be the only one who believes in YOU!

Hunger For Fat Loss

His grandchildren begged him to tell the story, so the Cherokee elder sat with his grandchildren and told them, "In every life there is a terrible fight - a fight between two wolves.

One is evil: he is fear, anger, envy, greed, arrogance, self-pity, resentment and deceit.

The other is good: joy, serenity, humility, confidence, generosity, truth, gentleness, and compassion."

A child asked, "Grandfather, which wolf will win?"

The elder looked him in the eye. "The one you feed."

Great question. Which wolf are you feeding? Are you feeding the good wolf, or the bad one?

Did you have a great workout today, or did you just go through the motions? Did you even work out today? How long has it been since your last training session? Are your training sessions the same week in and week out? Have you hit a plateau? Do you remember the goals that you set? That is the true essence of achieving something greater.

When we make the goals to lose weight, tone up or get in shape then we are feeding the good wolf. Remember that theses goals must be written down for them to count. Until you write them down, they are only an idea. Writing them down does two things. First it makes them tangible. And second, by making them tangible you can grab them and accomplish them! Writing your goals is the first step to feeding the good wolf; to continue to feed the good wolf, you must take action. Thinking about it won't make it happen. Try these tips to keep the big bad wolf starving out of his mind.

1) Make a journal of everything that you eat. When written on paper, then there is a measure of accountability. Even if you do not eat the best meal, write it down. Research has shown that you will have much more success this way. Dedication is the goal, not perfection.

2) Plan your attack. If you have a day planner or use a pocket PC, then schedule in advance when you are going to work out. When you have a plan, then you will make time for it instead of not having time for it.

3) Always chart your results. You always balance your check book at the end of the month, right? That way you know what money you have spent and/or saved. The same goes for your goals. Measure your waist, chest/bust, hips, thighs and arms to see that good things are happening. This will keep you excited and ready for more action!

Keep training hard, stay focused and after aplying these tips your good wolf will end up fat and happy!

Fat Loss is FUN-damental

Learn the fastest way to fat loss, weight loss and wellness! It is simple, easy and the best part is that it is FREE. Just have fun doing it!That's right! If you want to be successful in fat loss, fitness, weight loss, body sculpting, body building or preparing for a sport...YOU MUST MAKE IT FUN!

A lot of time, people are put off by long bouts of exercise, or performing exercises that they do not feel comfortable doing. That is why San Antonio is ranked in the top three fattest cities every year. It is because we either are listening to the wrong people, or we are doing the wrong things. Fitness should be fun! All my clients will admit that training with me is difficult, but they also have a blast doing it. Unbeknownst to them, they are training as hard as pro athletes work. They do not realize how hard they are working because I make it fun!

Working out is hard enough, try to make things as enjoyable as possible. Your mind can only focus on one emotion at a time. Don't focus on the "pain" of the workout. That will only hinder youy ability to achieve the results you are trying to get. When the mind is occupied with "happy thoughts" and you are having fun, then your body is free to achieve greatness! Performing the same old routine is the quickest way to bordom. If your trainer is having you do the same things all the time, then get rid of them! Your body and your mind need constant changing stimuli to grow. Remember to make fun your most important goal. Here are some ideas to help you get the most out of your next workout!

Try wearing an Ipod, or equivalent when you train. It will help keep you focused and actually motivate you when you are listening to your favorite music.

If you prefer to train at home, then move your treadmill in the living room. Catch up on your favorite shows while going for a walk. This will do two thing for you!

Train in small groups or classes designed around your goals. Competition will drive you to succeed when you train in a group, whether you realize it or not. Do not be fooled by the classes at your local gym. They are not designed for fat loss success. They are disgned to keep you paying that gym. Instead seek out the advice and help of a trainer with the proper qualifications.

Give these simple solutions a try. I'm sure that with time you will find the best one for your needs. Once you figure that out, there will be no limit to the results you can achieve. Remember that you ARE worth it! You CAN do it! You DO deserve it! Don't let me be the only one who believes in YOU!

7 Top Secrets of Messing Up Your Medical Care Overseas

Ever heard of botched cosmetic jobs in Brazil or crappy dental work in Mexico? Such situations are very real. Here are the 007 top secrets of messing up your medical care overseas.

Top Secret # 001: Not doing research

Don't do any research and you will successfully fail in your quest to achieving safe and healthy medical treatment overseas. However, if you do want to go abroad and get quality health care while saving some bucks then consider doing thorough homework and collecting enough information. Some sources of information are: websites offering medical tourism services like Healthbase, news, blogs, articles, videos, testimonials, forums, etc. Satisfied medical tourists claim proper research to be a sure-fire way of happy and healthy medical tourism.

Top Secret # 002: Going abroad for a wrong procedure

Your ambulance will not drive you to India during an emergency (or even otherwise). Reasonably, only non-emergency treatments can be considered for medical tourism but not all such treatments fit the criterion as sometimes the travel costs can outweigh the possible savings achievable by going abroad.

Top Secret # 003: Choosing the wrong place

How about going to Thailand for your half-yearly dental cleaning? Superb idea? Not exactly. How about going there for dental implants? Maybe. And for full mouth restoration? Definitely. Choose a wrong place and you will waste your money on medical tourism instead of saving some. Wise medical tourists consider travel cost, lodging cost and number of visits required for full treatment when calculating potential savings.

Top Secret # 004: Choosing an unqualified doctor

Thanks to the power of the Internet, it's very easy to choose a doctor qualified at accomplishing botched jobs. If you wish to not fall prey to them, better do your homework properly. Check your doctor's credentials, ask people around and get recommendations from reliable sources to avoid scheduling an appointment with "Dr. Quack".

Top Secret # 005: Not doing proper planning and preparation

Allowing time for surgery but not for recovery and recuperation? That will require you to modify your itinerary. As a medical tourist you should prepare yourself to stay longer/shorter than expected. If you have travel or tourism on mind, allow time for that as well. A word on arranging your essential documents: Put together your medical records and financial records, acquire passport and visa, and have the information of your important contacts handy. Also, book your travel tickets and hotel rooms well in advance.

Top Secret # 006: Working with a substandard medical tourism agency

There are new agencies cropping up each day. Some of them are there to genuinely help you while others are affiliated with "Dr. Quack". A good medical tourism agency will have partners that are certified by international or domestic accrediting organizations. It will offer a variety of medical travel services, it will offer numerous medical procedures in many countries, it will have patient testimonials on its website, it will have been covered by media, and much more. Your research will help you identify the good ones.

Top Secret # 007: Failing to follow the right aftercare

Planning to play football the day after your total knee replacement surgery? Ouch, that will hurt! Physical therapy, rest, diet, medication, etc. are all as important as the surgery. Your local doctor might be able to help you with your aftercare so always keep him informed. You might also need his help, for example, for removing sutures or for taking X-Rays.

Remember to avoid the above 7 mistakes and your medical tourism or dental tourism abroad will be happy, healthy and successful.

The #1 Trick to Tell If Your Shampoo is Cruelty-Free Or Cruel-As-Can-Be

So often, people think only about what they put IN their bodies. Is it organic, vegetarian, vegan, kosher? Does it have partially hydrated oils, high fructose syrup or preservatives? What about unsaturated, saturated or trans fats? In the vegetarian society, we have swirled into quite a frenzy over our concern that what we eat needs to be animal friendly.

But, what about what we put ON our bodies. Too often, good willed people still support animal suffering because they don't know that the product they are using was created by a direct result of animal exploitation. Find out the #1 trick to ensure that the products you are using are animal- friendly and vegetarian.

How can you be sure that needless suffering did not occur to helpless lab animals so that you could wear the perfect shade of red lipstick? Or that animal by-products aren't collecting on your skin after a use of your favorite lotion?

The #1 trick to avoid animal exploitation in products is to look for the symbol! Pretty simple, right? The best way to be sure that a product is vegetarian and animal-friendly (no animal testing) is to look for it to say so on the packaging. Many times, a symbol of a rabbit will appear on the back of the package. This symbol indicates that animal testing did not occur.

Other times, it will simply say this on the back with the phrase "No Animal Testing." Look for the rabbit symbol or another clear indication that the product is vegetarian and you can be confident that you are supporting the ethical treatment of animals.

If a product does not clearly indicate it is animal friendly, it is safe to assume that the product either contains animal by-products, is not vegetarian and/or participates in animal testing.

WARNING: If a product says "Natural" or "Organic" this does not mean vegetarian. Manufacturers will use these over used terms that often times, confuses the consumer.

Many assume that animal-friendly and vegetarian products are only at health food stores that will require for them to go out of their way to purchase. The good news is that mainstream pharmacies and grocery stores are stocking shelves with products that never harmed an animal and use vegetarian ingredients. Society's demand is enabling us easy access to buy merchandise that is vegetarian! Just remember to look for the animal-friendly symbol on everything you buy!

Excessive Sweating - Hyperhidrosis

I wanted to talk to you about excessive sweating hyperhidrosis. This is a condition where your sweat glands are over active and sweat too much. This condition isn't exactly unhealthy, but it does cause a lot of little problems in your life. You're always a person that is sweating, for no apparent reason. You live your life in a shirt that is always set. You have to change your clothes a few times a day just to say dry. And people always make comments to you like "are you okay?" This is a condition that most people don't want to experience, so I thought it was important to share information on excessive sweating hyperhidrosis.

Let me show you the type of reactions you'll get in your life. I'm a highly educated person with dreams of making some good money at a great career job. I was working at it, at the bottom, but with a lot of potential to rise. But for some reason, I was always passed over for promotion for other people that were less qualified. I soon learned that it was due to my sweating. When you look at a sweaty guy, you see someone that lacks confidence, a person that can't handle the pressure and someone that looks like they have something to hide.

At this point I wanted to cure my excessive sweating hyperhidrosis. There was surgery available, but it didn't seem to address the main issue. I soon learned that I was eating foods that actually caused my heart to beat faster and my body to work harder. This made me get hot and I'd sweat. I cut out food like coffee, soda and spicy food, and I noticed my sweating started to subside.

Ultrasound Probes - The Doctor's New Tool

The ultrasound machine or US machine is one the most useful and versatile types of medical equipment. Using high frequency inaudible sound waves delivered by means of ultrasound probes, these devices can be used to diagnose diseases and abnormalities, monitor pregnancy and other normal functions, and can even be used to deliver therapy.

The often-preferred method of taking a look inside the body is ultrasound. X-rays are useful, but the radiation produced by x-ray is of some concern and may pose more risk to some patients than others. Ultrasound has no such known risks. An ultrasound can't be used in the place of x-rays in every scenario, but for many applications it is actually better. The "ultra" in "ultrasound" refers to sound that is beyond the range of human hearing. Echoes reflect sound waves back to the ultrasound transducer, creating a picture of what is there. Both industrial and medical fields have found various uses for ultrasound in the past.

The technician uses a specially formulated conducting gel to allow the ultrasound probe (transducer) to keep in continuous contact with the skin. A similar probe provides even higher amounts of ultrasound when it is utilized for physiotherapy purposes. It warms the contact surface by means of vibrations produced by these high speed sonic currents. This, in turn, increases circulation and alleviates pain and inflammation such as is found in cases of soft tissue injury. It is necessary to maintain the probe's constant motion and limit the length of each ultrasound therapy session in order to avoid overheating any area under treatment.

Medical ultrasound is often used to diagnose conditions such as appendicitis and gall bladder disease rapidly and easily. In appendicitis, the US may be able to confirm a diagnosis faster than with blood testing for the infection and works better than x-ray or CT scanning and is less expensive. It is standard to obtain an US image whenever gallstones or other gall bladder problems are suspected.

Everyone knows that ultrasounds are heavily used at the OB office to detect, observe, and even diagnose pregnancies. Ultrasound probes and lubricating gels, usually when the woman has a full bladder, can easily get a good look at the female reproductive system. Using ultrasound, a practitioner can quickly and accurately give the size and gender of a fetus, placenta location, and detect any abnormalities with the pregnancy or its location.

The heart can be scanned using ultrasound. In most cases, a probe is passed over the chest and an echocardiogram of the flow of blood is taken. A TEE (transesophageal echocardiogram) is more precise and is carried out by inserting a probe down the throat and taking the image from the inside. It is easier to detect conditions such as aneurysms by using this method, but patients have to be unconscious in order for it to be carried out.

Premature Ejaculation - Men Are Too Embarrassed to Talk About it and Rarely Get the Help They Need

Premature Ejaculation (PE) is something that more than 10 million men in the United States alone struggle with and yet it's not something most men want to talk about. Men are too embarrassed to discuss their PE problems with their doctors, family members, and even with their wives. Where then can men go to get the information they need to actually help control their PE without needing to have that embarrassing conversation with their doctor or loved one.

A few weeks ago I came across an ebook off the Internet that did not just provide a quick fix but actually began to cure my problem with premature ejaculation.

For those who are interested and are struggling with PE like I was, I wanted to provide a quick review of this resource so you can decide for yourself if this is something worth checking out. The ebook is entitled "The Ejaculation Trainer" and hopefully this review, which shares both the pros and cons of this resource, will be useful.

Pros:

This resource provides great techniques on how to not only retrain your mind but also to retrain your 'bodies responses' so you can begin to move towards permanently stopping premature ejaculation. I also learned which muscles cause PE and which muscles can be used to control it.

I really liked that there were no gimmicks, pills or creams needed. I could just take the information provided and begin applying it right away that night in bed with my wife.

I actually made real progress during my first sexual encounter with my wife. I went from 3-4 minutes to lasting about 12-15 minutes after applying just a few of the suggested techniques.

Cons:

There were a few suggestions given that I did not feel comfortable trying, although the ones I did use really worked.

Your not going to be able to last an hour right away in bed with your loved one, especially for those who have struggled with premature ejaculation for a long time. However it is realistic to expect to last 10 to 15 minutes after a few days and probably 30 minutes after a few weeks of putting into practice what you learn.

Conclusion

I was very happy with this ebook and believe it has helped me tremendously in improving my sex life. It's a goldmine of information that I have not found anywhere else on the Internet.

I would highly recommend you check out this resource for yourself at:

Killing Your Spouse - Or How to Save Your Partner's Life

  • If your partner is obese, you are more likely to be obese.
  • If your partner does not quit smoking, then you are less likely to be successful in quitting.
  • If your partner has heart disease, then you are more at risk for heart disease.

So if you want to kill your spouse, the best route short of prison, appears to be to take on an unhealthy lifestyle. Your unhealthy lifestyle is likely to encourage the same lifestyle for your spouse, increasing his or her chance for a premature death.

On the other hand, your lifestyle choices can not only benefit you but also your mate. By making changes in your health habits, you can extend your life and that of your spouse. What is the best way to make sure that your partner joins you in healthy change?

Discuss the Health Benefits You are Striving For

Research has shown that focusing on positive outcomes with clear health benefits can motivate change. Tell your partner what you wish to accomplish. Avoid pushing you partner to adopt the same goals. If he or she is not prepared to adopt these goals, then such a push is unlikely to be successful.

Discuss Potential Stumbling Blocks and Enlist Your Partner's Help

It is beneficial to anticipate obstacles to change. This is not negative thinking, because you are also considering ways to avoid or overcome such obstacles. By enlisting your partner's cooperation in this effort, you will motivate your partner to consider the effort necessary for change. Indirect suggestion that change is possible is more powerful that full frontal assault on your partner's resistance to change.

Encourage Your Partner to Verbalize Objections to Change

When your partner suggests that attempts to change are likely to be fruitless, it is tempting to argue that change is possible. Instead, listen to your partner and show acceptance for his or her viewpoint. Clarify your mate's views and the reasoning underlying these views. Accepting his or her views as legitimate will not encourage your partner's negative thinking, it will actually soften such thinking. Arguing for your view will create polarization, a hardening of one's position.

Ultimately, the most powerful force for change will be your success in change. If you stop smoking, then your behavior will demonstrate that stopping smoking is possible. Regular exercise will yield results that will demonstrate the benefits rather than simply talking about them.

Your effort to improve your behavior will not necessarily result in your partner's change, but you can rest assured that you have done your best to be a positive influence on your partner's health.

How to Choose a Personal Trainer

Increasing numbers of people are turning to personal trainers for help for any combination of the following reasons:

They've tried the gym and finally realized that, like their car, they can't fix it on their own no matter how hard they try or what they try.

They don't want to try the gym because the thought of big muscle men scares them or they are too self-conscious.

They have realized how their friends never get anywhere despite having been a gym member for 3 years and they don't want to waste money in the same way.

They don't have much time for exercise and need precise, efficient programming.

They struggle to push themselves on their own and quite simply need a good kick up the backside a few times each week!

Whatever your reasons for choosing to hire a personal trainer, you need to consider a variety of critical factors to ensure that you get the results you are paying for by finding someone who can not only deliver a very high quality service, but work well with you on a personal level.

Here are the most important issues you should have at the front of your mind when searching for a trainer:

Check out their website. Does it appear professional and fill you with confidence that they see quality as a major factor? Do they look like your kind of person / place?

Check they have the necessary insurance for your own protection. They should have professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

Ask to see certificates.

It is still very easy to operate as a personal trainer without requiring proper qualifications which guarantee safety and quality of service. This includes first aid certification. In Britain the trainer should be at least REPS Level 3 qualified.

If you have special needs which could affect your training such as diabetes, recovery from severe injury etc make sure the trainer has the necessary skills and won't just use generic methods

Check what support mechanisms they have in place such as nutrition systems, exercise manuals and exercise videos, all of which will make your experience more enjoyable and thorough and increase the chance of great results.

Check out testimonials. Ensure these testimonials are relevant to your goals and aren't written by people who have 10 hours per week to train and are training for a triathlon when you just want to lose weight effectively.

Consider their training philosophies. Are they mainly bodybuilding focussed? Do they mainly deal with athletes or sport-specific training? Will they try to enforce yoga on you when you want to learn to lift weights effectively?

How much do they charge? What do you get for this? Is there an added charge for travel? Remember you get what you pay for so don't always choose the cheapest option!

When you speak to them do they listen intently to exactly what you want or do they seem intent on pushing certain methods on to you?

What assessment processes do they use to assess your current lifestyle, current physical health, movement issues etc.

What review systems do they use?

What training facilities do they have available. If they can only train you in public gyms, will this put you off?

What times do they have available and can they guarantee you a regular weekly slot at a good time for you?

Do they offer money back guarantees if you follow what they say and don't get results?

What is your gut instinct? This will become a very personal relationship so you must be comfortable working with them and feel like you can trust them to always do what's best for you.

Every trainer will have different methods and opinions on the best way for you to achieve your personal goals. Take time to find the right one as this will save you a lot of money and frustration in the long-run.

Ways to Gain Weight

Some people are naturally super-thin and may even look kind of gawky - you can blame it on genetic factors or whatever, but their body just refuses to add any bulk. In their desperation to ways to gain weight they go in for a fat-rich diet - milk cream, fried food, cakes, cookies, and the like - that can end up ruining their health. Other people who may seek ways to gain weight are those who have become thin due to some eating disorder or serious illness. Whatever the reason, if you want ways to gain weight, you must do so in a healthy way. Here are some of the healthiest ways to gain weight:

1. Just consume an additional 500 calories per day, but don't forget to first plan a nutritionally balanced diet comprising appropriate amounts of proteins, carbohydrates and fats as well as micronutrients like vitamins and minerals. Avoid nutritionally poor/empty but calorie-dense foods like deep-fried foods, colas, ice creams, etc. - you may end up putting weight at the wrong places, in addition to raising your cholesterol and upsetting your blood insulin levels.

2. Spread out your meals: Do not skip the three daily-recommended meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner. Make your breakfast and lunch large, but keep the dinner relatively light, as sleeping on a full tummy is not good for health in general.

3. Snack around: Have three snacks a day in between the three meals. A combination of three meals and three snacks a day is just right. Just remember to stay off unhealthy snacks - snack instead on nutritive foods like nuts, seeds, fruits, cheese, etc.

4. Food choices: The idea is to pack in calories and gain weight without piling on excess fat. So there's no point going in for just any calorie-rich food and neither is it a good idea to go in for foods that do not have sufficient calorific content. So, pepper your diet with nutritionally rich foods like potatoes, corn, brown rice, brown bread, bananas and other such high-calorie foods. Don't load your stomach with just carrots, apples, or soups - it is okay to do that for weight loss, not for weight gain. If you love salads, then dress them with healthy oils like olive oil or canola oil and add some nuts to them.

5. The Menu: Your meal must include a variety of foods - starchy foods, protein-rich foods, calorie-rich foods, healthy oils, and some foods rich in fiber, such as fruits and vegetables.

6. Finally, build an appropriate muscle-building exercise schedule and stick to it. Regular weightlifting exercises help build muscle mass, which adds to your body weight and makes you look beefy too. Plus, exercise will offer you umpteen other benefits. But remember, if you are following a regular and active exercise regimen, you will have to increase your calorie and protein intake even more.

7. See to it that you don't gain more than a pound or two per week. Gaining more weight per week means you are adding excess fat on your body, which you definitely don't want to.

These are some of the practical tips you can use on ways to gain weight the healthy way. Once again, remember not to fight off a thin condition by consuming lots of fat. Good luck!

Use a Constipation Diet to Become Regular

It is said doctors interrupt their patients every 18 seconds and spend very little time with them. If you go to a doctor and ask for a constipation diet for preventing constipation, what will you get? Most doctors don't have the time or are not able to tell you what foods relieve constipation. So, if you want to get rid of bloating, constipation, chronic constipation, and stay regular, you're going to have to take charge of your problem.

So how do you take charge? You take charge by using natural methods and remedies. If you use drugs or drugstore laxatives you are looking for health troubles as you age.

It's not your fault you have constipation or chronic constipation. So, why is it not your fault that you have constipation? Well, one reason is, you have constipation because of the foods you eat and diet you follow - a constipation diet. When you were growing up, you learned what, how, and why to eat the way you eat now. This means you were trained how to eat by your parents and how to create constipation.

It is your fault if you allow yourself to continually have constipation, since as an adult you chose your diet plan and you chose to take or abuse un-natural laxatives.

To get rid of constipation short term is easy. If you are constipated, you can clear out your colon with natural laxatives such as herbs, fruits, or vegetables. Keeping your colon healthy long term so that you have regular bowel movements is harder to do.

A constipation diet is one where you don't eat or dink the foods that activate and clear you colon. First, if you don't drink enough water, your stools will be hard and they will have a hard time moving through your colon. So, Drink a glass of water or natural juice first thing in the morning, before you do any thing else.

Let me ask you, "Do you expect your doctor to help you get rid of constipation or chronic constipation?" And, to tell you what you need to do to keep it from coming back and at the same time tell you how to improve your health. In most cases that will not happen, so here is another remedy for your constipation diet.

Eat more fruits and their juices - eat only fruits and vegetables juces from morning until noon. This helps you to detoxify and eliminate toxin that accumulated during the night. You'll also get more fiber, since fruits are high in fiber. For lunch eat some protein, but make sure you have a raw salad. Then, continue to use fruits and their juices as in between meal snacks. This is an eliminate constipation diet.

Now, one more thing, and this is how to eat protein. If you don't eat vegetables with your protein, this is a big problem and you're going to create constipation. Your protein is going to take a long time going through your colon. The longer protein stays in the colon the more susceptible you are to colon cancer and other colon diseases. Fiber makes yours stools bulkier and this bulk is what activates peristaltic colon action.

So eat smaller protein portions and always eat it with raw vegetables. The vegetables provide fiber to mix in with the digested protein. Don't eat fruit with your meals or as desert, they interfere with your protein digestion. The fewer vegetables you eat, the less frequently you will have bowel movement. Now, this is what your doctor should have told when you ask for a "eliminate constipation diet."

Child have constipation just like adults and perhaps more often since they don't like to eat food that has a lot of fiber - vegetables and more vegetables. Children with constipation can use the same natural remedies as adults, but in lesser amounts.

You can use these guidelines for children 3 and older. Children should have a bowel movement everyday. It would be best for them to have at least two, if they are eating three meals a day. If your child is having three or less bowel movement per week, it is time to get worried and take action.

If you use some natural remedies, and your child still has only 3 or less bowel movements per week, then its time for you to take your child to see a doctor. Continual constipation can reflect a more serious condition, especially if your child is eating the foods that promote natural bowel movements.

Here is a list of things that you can do for your child with constipation. In fact, these recommendations are also good for you if you have constipation.

1. Drink more water - children are very active and will perspire more than an adult during the day and lose water. If the body needs water it will take from the stools and make them hard and difficult to expel.

2. Eat more fiber - fruits and vegetables is where the fiber is. Using artificial fiber and laxative products is not a good idea. The body can become dependent on these products and lose its bowel sensitive and colon wall tone.

3. Having a bowel movement when it is time - teach your children to go to the bathroom when they get the urge. A lot of times they will put it off if they are playing or doing something they like. Putting it off will de-sensitize the colon and it will stop giving the bowel movement signal after a time. This will lead to constipation.

4. Use natural products that promote bowel movements - there are many fruits and vegetables that promote bowel movements. Use these as snacks. In cases where you use a natural remedy that is bitter, remind your child that it is medicine to help them go to the bathroom more frequently.

Drinking Water

Have your constipated child drink more water throughout the day. Use distilled water. Minimize the use of sodas, tea, and sweeten juices, as these are not water. Eating fruits and vegetable provide the body with distilled water since they contain up to 70% water. Drink unsweetened fruit and vegetable juices provide water and promote bowel movements.

Eating Fruits and Vegetables

The best time to give your child fruits is in the morning. From the time they wake up to noontime is when the body is detoxifying. Heavy foods like meat, milk, cereal, and eggs hinder the detoxifying process. Fruits and their juices accelerate the detoxifying process and promote bowel movement, provided no protein or carbohydrates are eaten. A good breakfast is simply a bowel of fruit. A glass of juice can also be provided.

When in season use a big bowl of watermelon and cantaloupe slices. Otherwise, use a variety of seasonal fruits. Use fruits as a snack between meals. But do not give fruits after a meal as desert. Wait 2-3 hours after a meal before giving fruit. This helps digestion and promotes bowel movements.

Vegetables should be eaten with each meal at noontime and dinner. Vegetables provide water, fiber, and an array of minerals and vitamins necessary for good digestion and colon function.

To make the salad more appealing for your child add raisins or pieces of apple to it.

Look to my other articles for Natural Constipation Remedies. Use those that I discuss. For a child, any herbal products that are used as a constipation remedy should be used at 1/3 the amount listed for an adult.

5 Health Tips For Christmas

Christmas and good health may not seem to go together particularly well, so you need to pay extra attention, if you want to stay illness-free this December. Here are 5 tips for staying healthy this Christmas.

1. Reduce stress

Stress is one of the biggest health worries at this time of the year as you try to juggle your finances and plan a feast for your family.

Try to plan your budget and work out what you can afford.

If it's a bit tight, don't feel pressured to overspend on anything and tell your friends and family that you're cutting back this year. They'll understand, they may even feel relieved!

2. Get some exercise

We know winter is dark and gloomy, but getting even the smallest amount of exercise will make you feel so much better. It's a brilliant way of relieving stress and boosting your energy, which means you will be mentally and physically prepared for when the relatives arrive!

A brisk walk is the easiest way, but if you prefer indoor exercise, why not spend 30 minutes swimming up and down your local pool - it works your whole body and is very low-impact, meaning it's less likely to put strain on your joints.

Of course, you may well be going to a Christmas party which is actually a great place to get some exercise. When the DJ sticks on Abba's Dancing Queen, make an effort to dance - it's a surprisingly easy way to get some exercise (and all the time you're dancing, you're not drinking!)

Oh, and as it's Christmas, remember, even shopping is exercise (as long as you're not sitting in front of a computer doing it!).

3. Down a smoothie

This is the time of the year, when many of us feel stretched pretty thin. When you're too busy or frazzled from the night before to eat properly, or even need a quick pick-me-up, then a smoothie is the quickest and healthiest way to get goodness inside you.

Try an Innocent Superfoods Detox smoothie (1l, £4 approx) - it's packed with potassium, which helps lower blood pressure and reduce strokes, and Vitamin E, which fights heart disease and bad cholesterol. A 250ml glass will give you the same amount of immune-boosting antioxidants as are in five portions of fruit and veg.

4. Help your hangover

No-one enjoys a hangover. They're nature's way of telling you what a great time you've had, but they also tell you how many essential vitamins your body has lost.

Surprisingly, even though it's the last thing many of us want to eat with a fuzzy head, a Christmas dinner is good to eat, because it's full of the vitamins needed to cure a hangover.

Turkey is a great source of vitamin B, which is vital for your nervous system and stopping you feeling queasy. Potatoes have more Vitamin C than a glass of orange juice, which is important, because it helps the liver to break down the alcohol. And green veg like broccoli and Brussels sprouts contain Vitamin E which detoxes the body.

If that sounds like too much hard work, gobble down a ripe banana. It contains a natural antacid to help your stomach, magnesium to ease your headache and sugar to top up your liver's natural sugar stores and lose that light-headed feeling.

5. Get some sleep

We know Christmas is all about having fun, eating and drinking, but research has shown that missing out on sleep could lead to a cold or other seasonal snuffle.

Your body and brain recharge when you're under the covers and also fight off infections. Try drinking a warm, milky drink before bed, and, if you've been up or out partying, make sure you give yourself time to wind down and switch off before jumping into bed.

5 Tips to Target Your Body Cleanse

Doing a body cleanse can give you many benefits - if you tailor your cleanse to match your goals. It is possible to design a program, tailored to meet your personal needs. But first, it is important to learn some body cleansing basics.

A body cleanse can mean many things. It can mean cleansing your colon, your blood, your lymph, your liver or your kidneys. You can do this in many ways from fasting or a simple change in diet to using body work such as massage or colonics. Here are some tips that will help you achieve your desired benefits from your personal body cleanse.

Tip #1 - If your goal is weight loss, then a dietary change may be your first step to body cleansing. This isn't as easy as it sounds and it takes time. But the results can be phenomenal. Other top reported results include increased energy, glowing skin and an anti-aging effect.

This is because junk foods and processed foods contain many chemicals that can harm our health. The more processed a food is - the less real food and nutrition it contains. The excess chemicals and lack of nutrients makes these foods more difficult to digest, which can cause your metabolism to become sluggish.

Eliminating these junk foods from your diet means less free radicals that can cause oxidative damage, which prematurely ages your skin. You also eliminate the chemicals that can build up on your thyroid or even imitate hormones which can drastically slow your metabolism. This makes weight gain too easy and weight loss too hard.

Eating healthy cleansing foods such as fresh, whole, organic fruits and vegetables, organic whole grains, gluten free, organic grains and fresh unprocessed proteins helps your body function the way it is supposed to. These foods can fuel and then speed up your metabolism since they are easier for your body to digest.

Tip #2 - Add supplements to your diet to enhance the power of your cleanse and even help your body heal itself. These may include nutritional supplements that cleanse and some that add nutrition. Some of these can absorb toxins, making it easier to get rid of them. Others add nutrition so your body's own systems that detox and cleanse can work better.

Supplemental, nutritional fibers help absorb toxins while clearing waste. They have the ability to soften old build up in the intestinal tract so your body can eliminate it. Some fibers, such as psyllium, also feed your good bacteria. These bacteria are part of your immune system, so you want them strong.

Whole food vitamins and green super foods add nutrition that your body can easily absorb. Extra nutrition is necessary if you have health issues or if you are attempting to heal. This is because it takes ten times the amount of nutrition to heal than it does to just function on a day-to-day basis.

Essential Fatty Acids (EFA's) are another nutrient essential for healing and body cleansing. They reduce inflammation which, when out of control, can lead to chronic disease. EFA's also help your cells purge toxins that make you fat and can even cause health problems. Adding a supplement can give your body the extra it needs to reverse problems.

Tip #3 - Some people cleanse their bodies for better health, stronger immunity and to handle stress better. Use massage and lymphatic drainage to help your body cleanse and eliminate toxins and waste quicker. Both of these literally push toxins out of the muscles and can have numerous health benefits.

Massage helps relax you, which results in fewer stress toxins circulating through your body. It increases blood flow so your blood then carries more oxygen and nutrients throughout your body. Both of these actions help your body cleanse and may even help your body cleanse quicker.

Lymphatic drainage is said to break up crystallization that can accumulate in your lymph fluid, causing it to become sluggish. It may also enhance the flow of lymphatic fluid. Your lymph is responsible to carry your protector cells through your body and carries waste out of your body. If it is not in good working order, sickness and disease can set in easier.

Tip #4 - Colon therapy can help those with chronic constipation, or other health issues. It is a type of hygiene practice that can enhance your body cleanse. It is said to help clear the intestinal tract and restore tonality to the muscles that are involved in the movement of this tract. This ensures that waste moves out before it can cause problems.

Many people have reported weight loss when this practice is done properly. If your colon is not working properly, your entire body can back up. Toxins will get stored in fat cells, muscle tissue and where ever else your body can find. Opening up your channels of elimination can help your body work the way it was intended, by constantly eliminating waste instead of storing it as weight.

Tip #5 - Many people use saunas as a way of body cleansing. They are proven to safely increase circulation which is important for transporting nutrients in and waste out.

Proponents of sauna therapies report clearer, healthier skin. This is due to the increased circulation. Saunas are also said to help your body remove harmful chemicals, pesticides and metals. This may also be due to increased circulation. An interesting noted benefit is mental sharpness while feeling relaxed at the same time.

Be sure to educate yourself regarding any of these practices. They are extremely beneficial, but only when done properly. If not done the right way, you can waste a lot of money and time. When done right, a body cleanse can be tailored to suit your needs and your lifestyle.

Can Your Thyroid Make You Feel Blue?

For many, the thyroid can be one of the most disruptive forces in the body. Is your thyroid the cause of your depression or your foul mood? It could be. There is evidence available that links the two together. Those that are tired and depressed may find that their thyroid is actually behind the problem.

What Is The Thyroid?

The thyroid is a gland that produces several types of hormones. These hormones allow your body to function properly. There are two main types of thyroid disease. Hypothyroidism is the condition in which the thyroid gland is under working and hyperthyroidism is the condition in which the gland is working too much. In both conditions, the thyroid does not work properly, which means that the production of hormones from this gland is off. This can cause a number of problems.

The good news is that there is a good amount of help for these thyroid problems. In fact, doctors are able to help regulate the thyroid to some degree using medications. Yet, the main problem people have is getting the proper treatment. Many patients go from doctor to doctor, from medication to medication without getting the help they need. This often stems from the fact that the symptoms of thyroid problems also resemble anxiety disorders or even are just signs of aging.

The symptoms of a thyroid disorder can include:

1. Irritability: unwarranted problems where people feel as if they are just in a foul mood, often taken out on those around them.

2. Heart palpitations: the heart's beat is not normal, or there may be a sudden feeling of fluttering in the chest, but no heart problem is immediately evident through initial testing.

3. Difficulty with concentration: This is a common problem for those facing thyroid disease since the regulation of hormones is not correct. The mind seems unable to focus on the current task.

4. Memory problems: Sometimes a side effect of the hormones, memory loss can lead to frustrations.

Other symptoms include:

-Fatigue
-Puffy, swollen looking face and neck
-Dry, pale skin
-Depression
-Muscle weakness, easy physical tiredness
-Unexplained weight gain
-Excessive sleepiness

Why It Makes You Feel Bad

Why does the thyroid gland make you feel bad? There are several reasons for this, including the symptoms you are likely to experience. The underlying problem is that the hormones produced by the thyroid are not being produced properly. Two hormones are produced by the thyroid: thyroxine (called T-4) and triiodothyronine (called T-3). These control the rate the body uses fats and carbs. They also are used to manage the heart rate. They are in use to keep your body temperature stable and to help monitor the production of protein in your body.

When this happens, the body cannot perform necessary functions properly. You feel bad because your body's temperature is off and your heart rate is not stable. You feel bad after meals because of the use of fats and carbs.

Getting Help

There are various methods to getting help for the thyroid disease you are facing. Doctors are often the first stop for treatment. Doctor treatment usually includes the use of synthetic thyroid hormone levothyroxine. This is available under name brands Levothroid, Levoxyl, and Unithroid. These medications help to get the hormone levels back up to natural levels.

In addition, to help these thyroid medications to work, your doctor may require that you eat a high fiber diet and that you eat more soy based foods. They may require that you also consume calcium supplements, iron supplements, and aluminum hydroxide to boost the body's ability to use these synthetic medications.

Beyond these medications, there are alternative treatments that can help. There are thyroid hormone replacement products available. For example, Amour is a product that is used for those who are suffering from a lack of T-3 hormones. In some cases, you can improve your tired feeling by taking an over the counter supplement of adrenal hormone. Other nutrients that can help include selenium, zinc, Vitamin C and Vitamin B-12. These nutrients, working together can help improve the overall function of the thyroid and give your body the nutrients it needs to perform well.

For those potentially suffering from hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, it is very important to seek out professional medical attention. Ask your doctor about natural, healthy treatment options available to you. Complications of this condition can be life threatening, especially in people that have been suffering from it for an extensive amount of time. Alternative treatments for thyroid disease are a possible option for many. Do not overlook what these products can provide for you.

Natural Medicine For Thyroid

The thyroid gland is essential for proper human development and function, however problems with the thyroid can occur. A natural medicine for thyroid treatment is commonly sought after in lieu of a costly prescription. Prescription medications for thyroid health (also called synthetics) are man-made in a laboratory with chemicals that can cause undesired side effects. Organic ingredients such as seafood and sea plants used in supplements are a natural medicine for thyroid treatment that has no side effects.

What does the thyroid gland do? The thyroid gland is responsible for producing thyroid hormone. A hormone is a chemical that is secreted by glands throughout the body and tells specific body parts what to do. Thyroid hormone is largely responsible for the metabolism of the body and keeping the body functioning normally.

The thyroid produces two major hormones:

  • Triiodothyronine -- also referred to as T3
  • Thyroxine -- also referred to as T4

The 3 and 4 relate directly to the amount of iodine molecules which are used to create these hormones. This is explained below.

How does the thyroid gland create hormones and what hormones does the thyroid gland produce? The thyroid cells are the only cells in the body that are capable of absorbing iodine. Iodine is a mineral found in foods such as fish, some seafoods, salt, and dairy products. It is essential in the creation of thyroid hormone. When a specific number of iodine molecules combine with tyrosine (an amino acid used by cells to build protein) it can form triiodothyronine or thyroxine. That's how T3 and T4 (as stated above) are derived. Three molecules of iodine will create triiodothyronine; four molecules of iodine will create thyroxine.

Best Ways to Relax From Meditation to Sex

The fact that about half of Americans have trouble sleeping may lead you to believe that everyone just has too much energy, but this generally isn't the case. Often, the problem is that you just have too much on your mind to relax and fall asleep. This comes from the stress of daily life, whether it is kids or school or work or everything combined. There are lots of relaxation techniques to help you de-stress, and it is often just a trial and error process until you find something that works for you.

1) Breathing Techniques- Breathing? Don't I do that already? Yeah, you do, but this is different. They're called deep breathing exercises, and they have many benefits other than helping you get to sleep. First of all, it oxygenates the blood, which refreshes your brain. It also relaxes the muscles and quiets the mind. The great thing about this solution is that it can be used in almost any situation.

If you are nervous for a presentation or just too stressed out to work, they can be done without attracting any attention. They can also be done while lying in bed without disturbing your partner. There are many variations on this, and all of them can be found on the internet along with instructional videos and audio.

2) Meditation- When many people think of hypnosis, they think of a man with a swinging clock making people bark like a dog or dance like a ballerina. The truth is, however, that hypnosis can have many benefits, from simple relaxation to quitting smoking. To do this, sit in a quiet place and get comfortable. Visualize yourself walking in the forest or some other faraway place that you find peaceful. Once you feel far away, begin to focus on what you want. If the goal is to fall asleep easily that night, picture yourself doing so, or maybe repeat a phrase that encompasses what you want.

3) Sex- When couples begin having sex less often or not at all, it is often because of the stress and busy lives that both partners have. Truthfully, this is the opposite reaction you should have. Sex is one of the most natural tension relievers and can help you get a good night's sleep and wake up feeling satisfied and refreshed. The sleep you lose during it will likely be made up for with the quality of sleep you will get instead.

Reducing Pollution

According to Harvey Diamond - he was part of the 'Fit for Life' rage that backed Herbert Shelton's 'Hygienic' movement -

"In the USA, the Environmental Protection Authority found that the meat, poultry and egg industry was responsible for 73.6% of phosphate waste, 68% of suspended solids, 31% of solid waste, 35% of water waste, 73% of nitrogen waste and 7% of hydrocarbons.
Our appetite for animal products is wiping out our trees, fouling our water, polluting our air, gobbling up our natural resources and decimating our land."

'An emotional appeal' you say - but there are few people to-day that would argue successfully against Diamond's conjecture.

However, the statement itself being emotional leaves room for the 'wowser' to interject with any and sundry objections.

And so, to add scientific reason to the argument - I'll add to Mr. Diamond's statement with my own observations.

The eating of flesh food - of any kind - whether it runs, jumps, hops, flies, swims or crawls - is not in accordance with the laws of anatomy and physiology as they pertain to the human species.

Structure governs function is a beautiful rule of operation.

The structure of the human digestive system - from any and all aspects proves that we, as a species, are designed to subsist (in a pristine state of health) on a diet of living, live, whole plant based foods - to the exclusion of all other food types.

If we, as the only species capable of higher level thinking, were to respond to this with logic, there would be no need to emote on the subject of pollution.

We would also conclude that the need to clean up one's individual and personal pollution comes before knee-jerk responses to environmental pollution.

If you want the cleanest personal environment - don't eat second class foods, i.e. animal flesh.

All the best for your Health and Happiness,
Kevin Hinton

5 Ways to Super-Charge Your Energy Levels & Fight Fatigue, 30 Seconds at a Time!

It seems unfortunately most common that people will often neglect their basic needs and pretend that they are solving the most important issues in their life, when really, procrastination has crept in again. Those tired fatigue spells are a reminder from your body that you need to change some things in order to boost your energy levels and stay bouncy and awake throughout the day.

1. Getting sunlight

Increasing your exposure to sunlight increases our intake of 'blue light'. Blue light seems to have the most significant effect on our circadian rhythms than any other type of light. Given that most people spend a large portion of their day indoors, it might be time for you to open the blinds or go for a walk in the fresh air. Especially just before you know you'll need an energy boost!

2. Breathing hard

Oxygen fuels our cells. When you can breathe correctly, you flood your body with nourishing, energetic fuel which has an almost instant effect. Remember to breathe deep into your abdomen and breathe out slowly by pushing your belly button in towards your spine.

3. Energizing movement

Giving yourself the opportunity to move everywhere you go creates more circulation through your body and revitalizes your cells. Move more, more often and your energy levels will increase dramatically. Got no fun ideas? Do some skipping, go for a jog or go rowing, do some pushups or step ups. It only takes 3 minutes to boost your heart rate and get your blood flowing.

4. Tackle your day 15 minutes at a time!

Bringing in the variety never hurt anyone... Break up your usual routine by keeping yourself in a constant stream of variety activities. Do the gardening, change your regular walking path, sample a new food each day. Keep some interesting changes in your life and your energy will change.

5. Take tech-off time

Set a new routine to have some time in the day without electronic devices. Shut off the TV, computer, unhook the phone and switch off your mobile device. It's amazing how much such a simple thing can do to make you more relaxed, replenished and more energetic!

Take heed of these suggestions and you are well on your way to the life of your dreams.

IBS - Irritable Bowel Syndrome - What is IBS?

Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, is a typical functional bowel disorder a person can have concerning his intestines. Sufferers of this disease, which is also referred to as functional bowel syndrome, spastic bowel, irritable colon, and spastic colon, have problems with the way their food moves through their intestines, depending on how hard the intestines squeeze to mobilize the food they take in. Although IBS can hit anyone at anytime, the disease is reportedly more common in women and starts at the age of 20.

There are several symptoms that indicate the existence of irritable bowel syndrome. Among these are frequent gassing, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, presence of mucus in the stool, abdominal pain and/or cramping and a feeling of wanting to discharge again after bowel movement, and distinct alteration of bowel habits. These symptoms can first start to show after a person has had to face a stressful event in his or her life. IBS is said to appear together with other pain disorders and some psychological disorders.

There are different solutions for the relief of irritable bowel syndrome, but a permanent cure has yet to be found. The most common treatments include medication coupled with adjustments in the sufferer's diet. Since IBS is more probable to exist in people with psychological conditions, intervention from psychological experts is also recommended. It is important that the patient and his or her doctors maintain a good relationship; a strained relationship may cause more harm to the patient and worsen his IBS and overall health.

Stay Healthy in an Unhealthy World

It is not that the world is unhealthy per se...but there is lots of unhealthy temptation around as well as unhealthy environments. There are many ways to eat better, exercise, avoid unhealthy places, and take care of yourself in simple ways.

The food situation is a big one. Must one purchase everything organic to be healthy? What are the most important products to purchase organic? Dairy products take front and center. Purchasing organic dairy products you are avoiding many unhealthy hormones.

When dining out stay away from the smoking areas, soon that won't even be an issue as everyplace will be smoke free soon. Make wise selections and give some thought to making those splurges. My favorite rule is always eat what you love or don't waste the calories.

Do some studying into supplements and vitamins and research what might be best for you in for any lacks you may have. Also talk with your health provider before embarking on a new regime.

Wear Sun Block when outside, and get as much fresh air as possible.

Exercise...just walking is your best bet. It is free and requires no equipment, and plan to do it everyday. Also stretch and use light weights for resistance training...All of this requires no gym membership.

Managing stress...First of all do not watch the stock market report daily...That will get anyone's heart racing. Don't put your head in the sand, and limit your news watching or listening as much as possible

Take time out for five minutes of meditation which just means breathing out four times and in a quiet spot. The show is a great place for this for busy people. This is a great way to start the day.

Develop a personal thought that is positive and loving, and let it run through your head as much as possible throughout the day.

Stay in touch with friends and family. Social activity and interaction keeps you alive and alert.

Brain health: Do something new today; learn something new whenever you are able, and do puzzles, games that are fun.

Breathe deeply often. This keeps you calm and centered.

We live in an imperfect world, and we all have our daily challenges. Take time out to give thanks for all you have.

Not Sleeping Well? Try These Secrets to a Restful Night's Sleep!

Just how many of us are getting the recommended 6-8 hours of sleep? If you fall asleep, can you stay asleep throughout the night? With the amount of prescription sleep aids sold in this country it appears that many of us are having difficulty meeting our sleep requirements. Getting approximately 8 hours of sleep is crucial for a healthy immune system and a must to regulate our hormones. Poor sleep habits increase accidents, affect memory, eating habits and the ability to deal with stress. Lack of sleep also contributes to symptoms of chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and accelerates aging.

Are you one of the 82 million who experience these common symptoms:

Wake up feeling un-refreshed

Have difficulty falling asleep

Wake up early and are not able to get back to sleep

Waking frequently during the night

Is taking a sleep medication like Ambien and Lunesta the answer? Recently there have been multiple reports of bizarre behavior with no conscious recollection of their actions, by folks taking these prescription sleep aids. Some report that they have felt drugged the next day and attribute their corresponding car accidents to the taking of these types of medications. These hazardous behaviors may indicate that the long term effects of taking these types of drugs may be worse than the original problem.

So what can you do to gain a good nights sleep:

Develop a sleep routine. Going to bed early and at the same time every night helps to assist your body in gaining a handle on restful sleep. You get twice the benefit from the sleep you acquire between the hours of 10 pm to midnight than those gained after 12 am.

Daily exercise reduces stress and assists in getting a good nights sleep. Studies have shown that 20 to 30 minutes of daily exercise has a profound influence on the ability to obtain satisfying sleep. Be sure to exercise 5 to 6 hours before bedtime to allow the body time to cool down.

Removing yourself from stimulating activities such as watching television and working at the computer is a must to allow the body and brain to relax. Adding lavender oil on your pillow at night creates a wonderful yet calming aroma. Drinking Chamomile tea also helps with relaxation and promotes restful sleep. Listening to soothing music, reading (non-invigorating material), journaling, stretching, deep breathing, sleeping in a completely dark room, taking a warm bath, burning your favorite incense, avoiding stimulates and not eating late at night, are some additional tips to assist you in regaining deep, restful sleep.

Supplementing with melatonin, or melatonin's precursors 5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan) or L-Tryptophan have been beneficial for some. There is also massage, acupuncture, cranial sacral manipulation or EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to assist you with sleep issues.

Natural sleep formulas that include valerian, hops, kava kava, lemon balm, scullcap, wild lettuce and passion flower are just some of the most popular natural sleep remedies that have been used for many years. Magnesium and calcium are also beneficial to those looking for a solution to their sleep issues. Often time however our bodies can be so deficient in proper minerals that getting enough from our diet and supplementation is difficult. Look to a new technology that is revolutionizing nutrient delivery systems. It allows individuals to obtain vitamins and minerals at a cellular level and turned my sleep issues around in a matter of days.

I would like to make clear, that there is a direct relationship between sunlight and sleep. Sunlight initiates the production of serotonin which slows down at night when the pineal gland starts converting its stores of serotonin to melatonin. This is another reason that sleeping in a dark room and moving away from the television and computer (due to the light they give off) helps promote sleep.

Hopefully, you will find restful sleep in one or more of these tools, techniques and supplements. Sweet dreams!

Shake it Off - How to Cancel a Gym Membership That You Don't Need

One fine Saturday afternoon you were minding your own business when you receive a knock on your door. You halt your usual potato chip munching session to see who in the world would have the gall to disturb you when you are so busy piling on the calories. You look at the envelope that was slid under your door and you discover the horrific truth: your mother just enrolled you in a year-long gym membership. You reel, you cry, you drop down on your knees because of the insult-you're a perfectly fit, 290 pound individual that needs no stupid gym to give you unreasonable fitness expectations!

Now seriously, your relatives are probably just worried about you. But if you really don't want to spend those countless hours pumping iron or sweating away at the treadmill while your money flows out like water from all the energy bars and isotonic drinks that you're buying. So if you really don't want that membership to continue, here are a few ways to cut loose:

- Have It Canceled: This is probably the most obvious way to end any kind of ties you have to that gym, and probably the best way to normally go about this business. The worst thing about this though is that you are sometimes required to pay a cancellation fee as well as your monthly dues. You may need to sign waivers and other documents before you're full steam ahead. So if you don't mind the momentary hassle, this is the best way to go.
- Wait It Out: A lot of gym memberships have this clause that if you keep you account inactive, they will cancel your membership altogether. In this case, just waiting it out will prove to be the best thing. You get to concentrate on other things you like while the gym admin does all the hard work for you.
- Buy Exercise Equipment: If you want to cancel your gym membership but still want to keep up the health-conscious lifestyle, you can consider buying your own gym equipment. You don't have to make a veritable gym out of your living space but knowing that you can still be healthy after you cancel your expensive membership is a very motivating thought.

Strengthen Your Brain

The brain is the most complex biological structure that we know of. The human brain is over five times as large as the average brain of a mammal with a similar body size. Especially expanded in humans are the frontal lobes or the forebrain, they are involved in functions such as self control, planning and reasoning. The brain has roughly fifty to one-hundred billion neurons, which are cells that pass signals back and forth to one another. For one to have a healthy body, it is said that they must first possess a healthy mind!

During our life span, our cells regenerate, or replicate themselves. Brain cells do not regenerate and repair the way other cells do. Critical stages in the development of the central nervous system and the brain occur in the earliest stages of life and during childhood. During aging the body's ability to absorb nutrients decreases. The resiliency to bounce back from illness, injury, stress, or disease becomes less. As the aging process begins to accelerate we begin to lose brain neurons beginning in early adulthood. In addition, the brain faces increasing pressure to perform as well than it did when we were younger.

Here are some do's and don'ts to maintain a healthy brain:

Do:

  • Get regular exercise and involve yourself in physical activity
  • Exercise your mind! Always try new experiences and engage yourself in active learning
  • Socialize as often as possible with your friends, family and social groups
  • Keep a positive self image and attitude- have a sense of control in your life
  • Manage daily and long term stress effectively
  • Try and maintain a balanced diet, eat foods that are rich in antioxidants and omega 3 acids, and take multivitamin supplements daily
  • Lower high cholesterol, lose weight, and keep blood pressure and blood sugar levels under control
  • Make sure you are getting a full night sleep- six to eight hours!
  • Seek treatment for any underlying health problems

Don't:

  • Consume alcoholic beverages to excess, smoke cigarettes or use illegal drugs
  • Neglect telling your doctor about important changes in your mental status (it is normal to forget names or where you put the keys!)
  • Avoid going to the doctor when changes in mental or physical health occur
  • Overlook the possibility of negative drug interactions affecting your mental state, in the event of taking more than one prescription medication
  • Cut yourself off from social contact by isolating yourself in your home
  • Stop yourself from trying new things!

Did you know a positive outlook and attitude is one of the most important aspects of maintaining a healthy brain? No matter what challenges we face on a daily basis, we can teach ourselves to start each day with the philosophy "the glass is half full" rather than "the glass is half empty". This is important to keep our brains in a healthy state and ready for learning!

Feed My Brain is an all natural dietary supplement that contains over fifty ingredients to promote healthy brain function. These include fourteen learning nutrients and natural compounds found in fruits and vegetables that are considered building blocks for the brain. Feed My Brain by TriUnity is available in two formulas to help enhance brain function: Adult Formula and Children's Formula. New Fitness Ideas For a New You!

There is no argument that it is important for folks to get moving. A sedentary lifestyle will not only make you overweight, it can kill you. However, there is no one fitness program that works for everyone. With that in mind, fitness experts are constantly working to develop new fitness ideas to combat boredom and address various issues that clients may have so that fitness programs can be more adaptable.

There are many different reasons that people have for not getting the exercise that they should. Boredom, lack of time and physical limitations top the list. In an effort to combat these barriers to fitness, various programs have been developed and are being developed so that everyone has the opportunity to be more fit and healthier. These top three reasons, however, can prove to be formidable obstacles and the benefits of being fit don't always win over those who feel that they just can't incorporate a fitness program into their lives.

Boredom

Boredom can be a very powerful barrier against working out. It can be very difficult to work out if your routine does not interest or motivate you. New fitness ideas to combat exercise boredom include varying your routine, interval training and finding fun, new cardio workouts that are interesting. When you vary your routine, you may walk on the treadmill one day, swim the next day and take a spin class the next day. In interval training, you do a few minutes of cardio, 5 to 7 minutes, then do a set with weights. Return to the cardio and do 5 more minutes, then do a set of weights. Continue in this manner until you have completed your workout. Some fun cardio workouts may include a ropes course, horseback riding or kayaking.

Lack of Time

Many people say that they can't exercise because they just don't have the time. Many new fitness ideas center on this issue because it is so prevalent. If you find that you just don't have enough time to exercise, you may want to look into some of the more intense, shorter workout routines and see if one suits you. You can get some cardio in by just parking at the far end of the parking lot when you go shopping, then walking across the parking lot to the store. If it is possible for you to walk instead of driving somewhere, take that opportunity to get some cardio in. It is possible to work a fitness program into your daily life, even when you are crunched for time. It just takes a little creativity.

Physical Limitations

When working with physical limitations, exercise can be a challenge. New fitness ideas are being created all the time to help those who have limited mobility. For instance, if you have trouble with your knees or feet, this can make it difficult for you to walk. However, you may be able to work out on a recumbent bike so that could be an option. It is important to work with your doctor and explore various options for getting and staying fit. Your health depends on it.

Fitness Magazines - Top Reasons To Read Them

Why do we need fitness magazines? Surely everything we need to know is contained in books or we can learn from a trainer or nutritionist.

Certainly no magazine is a substitute for expert guidance from a professional or serious study of books written by experts, but magazines still have their place.

The beauty of a magazine is that it is up to the minute, colorful and full of relatively short, easy to digest articles. A magazine can convey a lot of information. It can summarize longer, weightier books and articles and bring the latest thinking to a wider public.

Fitness is a fast moving field. New research findings are constantly appearing and changing our thinking on exercise and nutrition. Ideas developed in professional sports and fitness training eventually filter down to the amateur level. Magazines make that process faster.

New equipment, training regimes and nutritional products are often first encountered in a magazine article or advert. A serious fitness enthusiast may want to look into the subject more deeply but a magazine can provide the first spark of interest.

Magazines also have the advantage that they can provide encouragement. When we get stuck with our fitness program and seem to be going nowhere it can be heartening to read about someone else's experiences. When we hear that other people have hit a plateau in their attempt to lose weight but eventually overcame their problem we feel that we can do the same too.

Fitness magazines have an inspirational and aspirational role. That is what their glossy photographs are all about. When we see a picture of a perfectly formed set of abdominal muscles we can envisage what is possible. It is rather like looking at a picture of a beautiful kitchen or bathroom. We know that our home is never going to look quite like that but it gives us something to aim at.

Seeing too much perfection can be a little depressing. But a good fitness magazine will always balance the inspirational and aspirational with some down to earth information. A magazine can be a fun way of getting essential information across to beginners. A book might be too daunting for someone who is just starting out on a fitness program.

The advent of the internet has given even more prominence to magazines. An internet magazine can be far more interactive than a printed publication. Magazines have always had problem and query pages but the internet allows readers to email in their comments and share them with other readers. Forums on internet fitness magazines are often the most widely read part of the magazine.

All the same features found in a printed magazine can appear on an internet magazine. There will be articles about exercise and nutrition, personal experiences, and reviews of new equipment and books. But there is the potential for so much more.

An internet magazine can provide an interactive personal trainer service which allows subscribers to log on and input their fitness statistics and create a personal profile. They can receive a fitness program tailored to their level of fitness and personal goals. Over the weeks they can track their progress.

As with so much of our lives the virtual world is becoming increasingly important in the personal fitness magazine market. But this has not entirely removed the potential for printed magazines which remain popular. The internet is all very well but you can't prop your computer up on the treadmill or exercise bike. There remains a demand for the printed fitness magazine.

Ways to Grow Taller - Gain a Couple of Inches in Height!

Many people don't realize that there are ways to grow taller. There are likely quite a few people who believe they've reached their natural height, yet are actually a few inches or more from it.

A few inches can make a big difference! It can take you out of the "short" category and put you into the normal-tallish category. If you are a model it can mean the difference between getting work and not getting work (or doing just print and not runway). Or if you are a basketball player it could mean the difference between getting more play time and becoming a better player.

Let's look at the ways to grow taller that WON'T work first:

Your bones aren't going to keep growing after they've reached their limit.

This is a common myth that you can continue to "grow your bones" after they've reached maturity. You are not going to get taller by growing bones after they've reached their max potential.

Herbs won't make you taller.

The herbs out there that promise increased height through bone lengthening and growing won't work for the same reasons we just mentioned. Once the limits reached, then that's it. Herbs cannot break that limit barrier.

So, ways to grow taller, what are they?

While your bones won't grow you taller, your spine very well may. So many people have spinal problems, yet simply don't realize it. I mean problems in curvature. These curvature problems actually rob people of inches worth of height. Fix the curvatures, and you grow taller! This is one tactic that will get you taller. There are other spine related issues you can learn to easily correct in weeks that will also give you added height.

How to Grow Taller Naturally

If you're not as tall as you'd like to be then you may have wondered how to grow taller naturally, or even if it's actually possible to get taller once you've left puberty. Height can be a very sensitive issue, and can lead to problems such as self consciousness, depression and lack of self esteem.

Whether you're a guy or a girl, lack of height can be a matter of concern. But is there really any way to remedy this, or are you destined to be short for the rest of your life?

Unfortunately, there's no 'magic pill' for how to grow taller naturally, however most average people, no matter what height they are, have the potential to increase their height by at least 2-4 inches. True, you'll never be a Shaquille O'Neal (7ft 1 basketball player), but a few extra inches added to your height could make a great difference to your life.

Lack of growth can be caused by many different factors, including an unbalanced level of growth hormones in the body. If you do not do the correct things to maximize your height, you may not reach your full height potential. Certain exercises and the right diet are two factors that can enhance the body's growth, making it possible to grow taller even after you've stopped growing.

The 'Height Now' system, is one height increase program that can teach you how to gain inches in height. The author, David Anderson, knows what it's like to be short, but he is living proof that it is possible to increase your height after puberty. This regular 26 year old guy went from being 5' 7", to a rather impressive 5'11" in just 6 months, doing the techniques he learnt from a Swiss clinic to grow taller.

If you want to know how to grow taller naturally then this height enhancement system could be the answer. You need to be prepared to devote the next 6 months to eating right, doing the right exercises and taking the right supplements, all of which you'll learn in 'Height Now'. However, it's really not that long a time to spend on something that might be very important to you - just imagine what it might be like to be 2-4 inches taller before next summer!

In my signature you'll find a review of this great 'get taller' system. If increasing your height is at the top of your wish list then this is a must read.

Short-Term Happiness is No Substitute For Long-Term Health

As the clocks go back, we are all faced head-on by the looming prospect of a long, dark winter. The changing seasons have a variety of effects from person to person, whilst even the most exuberant of us may well feel disheartened by the gloom that lies ahead. Winter holidays - "escapes to the sun" - are big business during the winter months, with many of us leaving our shores behind for warmer climes.

However, not all of us can do the same. Whether it is through high cost or work or family commitments, many of us are stuck in the U.K. with the worsening weather. Left behind, there is a temptation to allow pessimism to overcome us and in such an environment it is no surprise that we search for other easier, cheaper ways to achieve the feeling of brightness that a winter holiday brings.

One of the most popular methods is visiting tanning salons to use sun beds, making us appear sun-kissed on the outside. This pleasing aesthetic gives rise to feelings of achievement and wellbeing, but this is only a short-term solution.

Continued use of sun beds sustains the warm glow of tan, but the fact is that one trip to a tanning salon can expose an average person in the U.K. to more UV rays (the harmful rays emitted by the sun) than we are used to in a year. The veneer of the tan is hiding deeper damage that will make the skin appear older. The effects of old age are hastened - blemished skin that is wrinkly and tough - the result of which is that the fading of the tan unmasks the skin damage that lies beneath.

Even this is not the worst-case scenario, for the link between sun beds and skin cancer are well documented. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.K., particularly in England and Wales where there are over 60,000 new cases reported each year. 15% of these cases are diagnosed as malignant melanoma, the most dangerous kind of skin cancer - a 100% increase since 1992.

The high level of sun bed use in the U.K. can certainly be attributed to a psychological feeling of sadness. The short-term relief from this that we accomplish from sun bed use is as artificial as the tan itself. Soon, this positive feeling abates and with depressing weather forecasts worsening daily the temptation to head back to the tanning salon is almost impossible to resist. The solution, however, lies in the mind.

This sadness is actually due to a decrease in the production of serotonin in the brain, the chemical that is responsible for regulating our mood. Therefore what we require is not the outward appearance of having spent time in the sun, but the inward feeling of it. This can be achieved through the use of devices such as the sunrise alarm clock, which emits light to aid the production of serotonin. These devices produce far less ultraviolet light than daylight, so although they will not give you a tan they are much safer to use when considering how to tackle the "winter blues". After all, for long-term happiness the most important thing to safeguard is our health.
